African Green Pigeon

A distinctive, parrot-like pigeon, often seen in small groups clambering (parrot-like) around canopy of fruiting trees. Green, yellow and grey plumage is unique among local pigeons; bill whitish with red cere; eyes whitish; legs red; thighs yellow. In flight, dark flight feathers and greater coverts contrast with paler green forewing; vent chestnut; tail with broad, grey tip.

On Saturday, we had this amazing sighting of an Olive grass snake that caught a Yellow-throated plated lizard.
It was a battle for survival, which the lizard lost against the snake.

Today, as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Kruger National Park, I am reflecting on my very first sleepover in the park as a young girl in 1976 at the Pretoriuskop and Skukuza camps.

To mark this special occasion, I am sharing a few images of the memories I have photographed over the years. I feel incredibly privileged to have so many photos and stories to share from this iconic South African heritage.

May we all stand together to protect and preserve our wildlife for many generations to come.

So this week, I was on safari with guests from Canada who have been touring all the southern African countries for the last 4 months. Still, they were searching for leopard and wild dogs, which they haven't seen.

Wild dogs vs hyena on a safari in our beloved Kruger National Park. My guests loved the interaction.

This hyena is forever following the wild dogs, because he knows they are brilliant hunters and he could benefit from it. Not sure if he still remembers he is a hyena..ha ha.
The wild dogs do tolerate him to a certain extend, but they also had some fun and keep on harassing the hyena every now and then. But he clearly has a "thick skin" and did not leave.

Newborn baby crocodiles lying together on the rocks clutching onto each other. It's not something I have seen in the wild like this before. It's definitely a once in a lifetime experience!
Only 1-2 of these baby crocodiles will make it to adulthood.

The mom was guarding her young up close to the rocks in the water, keeping her gaze on us the whole time.

An absolute amazing sighting!
